Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive Dushanbe

    Permits confirmed, vehicle and route briefing.

  2. Day 2–3

    Into the Pamirs

    Long driving days following the river gorge east.

  3. Day 4–6

    Wakhan Valley

    Villages, hot springs and fort ruins beneath the Hindu Kush.

  4. Day 7

    Onto the plateau

    Climb onto the high plateau; first night above 3,800 m.

  5. Day 8–9

    Murghab area

    Acclimatisation walks and remote high-altitude landscapes.

  6. Day 10–11

    Karakul

    Lakeside homestay and time to walk the shoreline.

  7. Day 12

    Kyzyl-Art pass

    Cross into Kyrgyzstan over the border pass.

  8. Day 13

    Sary-Mogol

    Views to Peak Lenin and a final mountain day.

  9. Day 14

    Osh and depart

    Descend to Osh for onward travel.
