Who we are
TREKS Central is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. You can contact us about anything in this notice at bookings@trekscentral.com. Company registration details and a registered postal address will be published here once confirmed.
What we collect
When you use the “Build Your Adventure” enquiry form we collect the information you enter, which includes: your name, email address, optional phone or WhatsApp number and country of residence; your preferred contact method; your trip preferences, such as destinations, activities, travel dates, trip duration, accommodation style, budget and trekking experience; group information, such as how many people are travelling; and anything you choose to type into free-text fields, such as additional requirements or notes. We also record which page you started your enquiry from so the person replying has useful context.
How we use it
We use this information to respond to your enquiry, to develop a suitable itinerary and travel proposal, and to communicate with you about the travel arrangements you have asked about. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your enquiry details for unrelated marketing. We will only add you to a marketing list if you separately ask us to.
Who we share it with
TREKS Central works with independent local operators and guides in the destinations we feature. Where it is necessary to prepare your proposal, we may share relevant details of your enquiry — for example your dates, group size, preferences and requirements — with a selected local operator or guide. When we do this, we will let you know appropriately as part of the planning conversation. We do not share your information with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Lawful bases
We process your personal information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (responding to your enquiry and preparing a proposal), and because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our enquiry service in ways that do not override your rights. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object at any time.
International transfers
Because we work with local operators and guides in other countries, preparing your proposal may involve transferring relevant personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we share only what is needed for your trip and take steps to ensure it is handled with appropriate protection.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details while we are planning with you and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records — for example, so we can pick up where we left off if you return. You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time.
Security
Enquiries are stored in a secured database and can only be read by authorised TREKS Central team members who need them to plan trips. Access is signed-in and restricted.
Analytics
We record which step of the enquiry form was reached so we can improve it. These measurements do not include your name, email address or anything you type into the free-text fields. This site does not use non-essential analytics or advertising cookies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to our processing, and to data portability in certain circumstances. To exercise any of these rights, email bookings@trekscentral.com and we will respond.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
