Overview
A fuller journey through the Fann Mountains, linking the Seven Lakes with remote valleys, traditional villages, Chukurak Lake, the Kulikalon Basin, the Alaudin Lakes and the Mutnye Lakes beneath the range's highest peaks.
It is designed for active travellers who want mountain landscapes, alpine lakes, juniper forest and local culture while carrying only a light daypack — pack donkeys carry the camping equipment and main luggage.

The itinerary
Day 1Dushanbe to the Seven Lakes (Haftkul)approx. 260km drive | 5–6 hours
Meet your guide and driver in Dushanbe and drive through the Varzob Gorge, Anzob Tunnel and Zeravshan Valley, with stops for photographs and refreshments.
Visit the Seven Lakes and walk around the upper lakes at sunset.

Day 2Seven Lakes to Obi Safed12–14km | 5–6 hours
Trek from the upper Seven Lakes towards the remote Obi Safed Valley, through mountain pastures, shepherd settlements and alpine meadows, to camp beside a mountain stream.

Day 3Obi Safed to Guitan village12km | 5–6 hours
Continue through remote valleys past seasonal shepherd camps and wildflower meadows to Guitan, where you meet local families and experience traditional mountain life.

Day 4Guitan – Chukurak Lake – Kulikalon Lakes10–12km | 5–6 hours
Climb through juniper forest and alpine pasture to Chukurak Lake (approx. 2,450m), then continue to the Kulikalon Basin — Kulikalon, Bibijonat and Dushokha lakes — with camp near Bibijonat or Dushokha.

Day 5Kulikalon Lakes – Alaudin Pass – Alaudin Lakesapprox. 11km | 6–7 hours | high point 3,860m
A gradual climb to Alaudin Pass, a viewpoint over both the Kulikalon and Alaudin basins, then descent to the turquoise Alaudin Lakes (approx. 2,800m) and camp by the shore.

Day 6Excursion to the Mutnye Lakes12–14km round trip | 6–8 hours | high point 3,510m
Follow an alpine trail past glacial streams to the Mutnye Lakes beneath the highest Fann peaks. Picnic lunch by the lakes, then return to Alaudin by the same trail.

Day 7Alaudin Lakes – Vertical Alpine Base – Dushanbeapprox. 2km | 30–40 minutes, then approx. 4–5 hours' drive
An easy walk down to Vertical Alpine Base, then drive back through the Anzob Tunnel and Varzob Gorge to your hotel or the airport in Dushanbe.
